From Meshlab
The MeshLab team is formed by a small group of core developers, that work as researchers at the Visual Computing Lab of the Italian National Research Council and a larger, frequently changing, group of plugin developers.
MeshLab started two years ago as a university course project, and since then evolved into a complex tool used in many universities, research center and companies. MeshLab has been designed with a very modular plugins interface that allows a very loose development style; most of MeshLab functionalities have been developed independently by students of the FGTas course work.
We have also a #meshlab irc channel on freenode for talkative meshlab developers.
